About Me - Michelle Howard
Michelle, what's your AFN 2017 workshop?
My workshop is titled The Authentic Facilitator
If you had a totem animal what would it be (native to your country)?
What cultural activity are you looking forward to trying at the conference?
I’m open to new experiences and looking forward to the surprise!
What is your take on 'sacred communication'?
That all communication should be sacred as our words reflect our thoughts and ripple out in ways we will never know, so I think we should try and treat all communication with the same reverence and respect. I’m not there yet, but I am trying!
What’s something that might be surprising about you? Or your workshop?
That I crave time and space for quiet reflection. In contrast I’m a crazy, loud footy supporter. So my workshop has both kinds of energy, lots of creativity and the opportunity to connect with ourselves and each other.
What's the funniest facilitation moment you have ever had?
Turning up to a locked venue in a country town and having to improvise the whole workshop with the participants – humbling for me and empowering for them!
What pearl of wisdom can you offer beginner facilitators?
Put down your clever, work with the wisdom and energy of the group, be willing to take risks.
Bachelor of Education, Graduate Diploma Urban Policy and Planning, Masters
Social Science, CPF, Fellow Planning Institute of Australia, Certificate of Cultural Competency
(Aboriginal Cultural Education).
